The Story of LaVella

I had the privilege and pleasure of welcoming  my grandmother, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and Dementia, into my home to care for her during her last three years, until her passing on June 4, 2014.

With a family of six, we kept her very active.  Once a month, Grandma and I would go to get our nails done together. Many times we took my girls with us. This was one of my favorite outings with her.  She loved to be pampered, and she would admire her nails everyday and say how beautiful they were.

Alzheimer's and Dementia is a struggle for the family for so many reasons.  I made it my goal for my grandmother to enjoy everyday, even if she would not remember what we did the next day.  It was important to me to make each day count.  Her pedicures and manicures brought her so much joy  from the time she had them done, through the following weeks admiring them, until her next appointment.

Grandma always hoped one of my three daughters would be named after her. So, I proudly bring you LaVella Day Spa, named in loving memory of my dear grandmother Lavelle Wright.
